Before I left this morning I gave the newly planted seedlings a good soaking and covered them with mulch.  This is one of a row of cucumber and if all goes to plan it should start climbing on the trellis above it.

I also planted some lettuce.

And some more marigolds around the outer edge of the garden to hopefully ward off some pests and attract some beneficial insects.  They are edible as well.

The zucchini are coming along nicely and there are a couple ready to pick.  I haven’t eaten the flowers but will give it a go this summer.

It’s nice to know that these vegetables aren’t covered in chemicals.  I haven’t had a problem with pests yet but I’m putting natural measures in place to combat them.
