It’s a first…

My passion fruit vines are going crazy and there have been plenty of flowers over the past couple of weeks but I haven’t seen as many bees around as usual.  I was beginning to worry that the flowers wouldn’t get pollinated and that would mean no passion fruit.

As I was trimming some of the vine I came across this.  The first passion fruit for this plant and the first for summer.

I was relieved to know that the bees must have been around doing some pollinating for me.

Then as I looked over the vine more closely I saw more fruit. There are about 50 fruit on the vine currently.

Imagine if we didn’t have bees.  We would have to hand pollinate our own food.
