Unfortunately despite being a couple of kilometres from the mainland, the island still has its share of unwelcome inhabitants. I was working in the garden tonight and came across this female cane toad.
Apparently it’s not uncommon for some native frogs to be mistaken for cane toads and it’s important to be able to identify them accurately. Cane toads have the very prominent ridge above their eyes and across their nose. They also have a large circular gland just aft of their eyes which is clearly visible in the photos above.
